Putting my Georgia life back together

Hello friends! Sorry for leaving you in the dust the past couple of days. Between saying goodbye, leaving Tucson, flying to Jacksonville, spending the night there and driving back to Valdizzie today, things have been slightly insane.

I’m so very glad you liked the Pilot’s post as much as I did! I was so happy to have him as a guest blogger and he really impressed me with how much work he put into it, considering his super busy schedule. He has no idea what he’s gotten himself into… ;)

So I’m not going to bore you with every morsel that’s been consumed the past 3 days, but here’s some of my favorites from my last days in T-town:

B-fast cookie:

002

Hummus from Canyon Ranch and carrots

006

I <3 brown rice sushi

007

Elixir of Life (aka Shiraz)

010

Hummus, kalamata olives, feta, roasted red pepper plate that my bro, his fabulous gf and I shared at Blue Willow

013

My meal: a grilled eggplant sandwich with roasted red peppers and hummus instead of mayo on whole grain

014

It was disgusting:

016

Salad:

021

My “last supper”:

026

My flight to Jacksonville was fairly uneventful and Bella was a champ, as always. I had been worried about getting in late and getting to the hotel with Bella and all of my stuff, so my amazing friend Megan met me at the Airport, drove us to the hotel, spent the night, and I followed her back to Valdosta this morning. What a friend, huh?? :D

A funny thing happened at the hotel: we checked in, got our room  keys and went to open the door to our room. THERE WAS A GUY IN THERE SLEEPING!! The door was bolted so I couldn’t open it all the way, and he started yelling, “Who is it?!? Who’s there?”. We apologized and ran down to the office and explained it to the girl at the desk who had obviously made a mistake. We were cracking up and probably scared the poor guy to death.

This morning, I munched a Lunabar and a Bizzle on the way back to Valdosta, where my soul would be inevitably sucked from my body

I had a LOT to do around the casa (and still have a ton to do), but stopped to make some fries

031

And salad:

029

A little ray of sunshine in my day:

030

I CAN’T WAIT to use it!!! I’ll be letting you know as soon as I do :D I see lots of raw creations in the very near future…

This afternoon, I was itching for a run (me? itching to run?? it’s strange, but true), so I did 4 miles on the base trail in 31:45. I walked around for 8 minutes, stretched for 5, then took a beautiful hour Pilates class. Stretching and ab work feel so glorious after a good run

For dinner, my appetite was a little off (which I have to apologize that it might be weird for a while) and all I wanted was soup.

Amy’s Split Pea soup

033

The heel of Ezekiel bread and a slice with a Polaner strawberry spread:

032

I’ll most likely munch a bowl of fruit as I get a head start on the cleaning extravaganza that will take place tomorrow.

But first, I’m off to way more important things: catching up on your lovely blogs!

Have a great night and I’ll see you tomorrow!

xoxo,

G

Something to do: Break up your cardio and weights for some fat burning intervals. It will keep your heart rate elevated during the weights portion and enable you to burn more calories in the same amount of time. Try doing 3 sets of 2-3 exercises (10 minutes weights), followed by 10 minutes of intense cardio 3 times

Glad to hear you made it home safely. Hummus to replace mayo is a great idea.

LOL @ the hotel fiasco. I used to work at the front desk of a hotel and it happens.

Welcome back!

So jealous of the vita-mix! I don't even have a real blender, haha. I improvise with a food processor and stick blender.

It looks like that sandwich was totally disgusting! ;)

Poor guy at the hotel! I would be scared to death

haha you still have me laughing about the hotel, poor guy!

your breakfast cookies always end up looking so much better than mine! maybe because I've never put any toppings/mix-ins in it.

How can anyone not love brown rice sushi?! Sushi = excellence.

And your breakfast cookie looks most awesome. I think I might have to make myself one again :D

That hotel story is funny because the exact same thing happened to my dad - only he was the guy sleeping! He said he just started yelling really loudly, too!

Love those fries...and the rest of your eats, as always!! Have a good Thursday!

Funny hotel story. I've had the cleaning people walk in on me when I've been napping, but never a stranger. Thankfully!

Brown rice sushi?? I want to find that!

Gina! So many comments floating through my head...glad you enjoyed your final days with the fam. Yeah, looks like you really hated your eggplant sammy. :) Hilarious hotel adventure...but you don't sound too happy with your return to Valdosta. :( At least you had a Vita-Mix sitting on your doorstep. How exciting! I just posted my favorite raw cheese recipe that is so easy with a Vita-Mix. YUM! Glad you had a good run and Pilates class. Last but not least, I hope your Barney Butter arrives safely! Can't wait for you try it. Have a wonderful day.

Yay, glad you're back! The pilot's post was so sweet and really good! I was impressed with his thoroughness. :)

And WEIRD about the hotel - I really hope they gave that guy a discount!

And I kind of laughed when you wrote you were on your way back to Valdosta "where my soul would be inevitably sucked from my body" because I felt the EXACT same way when my family time holidays were over and I had to return to my unemployed/ job searching life in Dullsville.

Just got around to reading the Pilot's post...gotta say, LOVED it! What a great guy...you are a lucky girl! Tell him "Thank You" for serving our country, please!

Too funny at the hotel! :-) "Enjoy" being back at home...or try to anyway!
